JOB SUMMARY:

This role involves instructing student-athletes in the essential skills, strategies, and physical training required for achieving both individual and team success in their sport. The individual must adhere to all relevant policies, regulations, and guidelines set forth by the district and associated organizations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise student-athletes to facilitate effective learning through athletic participation.
  • Collaborate with the head coach to plan, develop, and implement a successful program that prepares student-athletes physically and mentally for competition; emphasize safety and promote opportunities for success.
  • Conduct regular practice sessions aimed at maximizing athletes' potential; teach fundamental skills and maintain practice records.
  • Coordinate facility use with the athletic director and adhere to district procedures for budgeting and equipment procurement.
  • Inform student-athletes and their families about eligibility requirements and sport-specific regulations.
  • Establish a systematic approach for issuing and tracking equipment, ensuring its return and maintenance.
  • Issue awards and letters according to established guidelines and provide recommendations to the athletic director regarding program improvements.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Attend all relevant athletic meetings as required.
  • Stay updated on coaching practices and rule changes through professional development opportunities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REPORTING STRUCTURE:

This position reports to the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and/or Principal or their designee.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The role involves working with student-athletes in various athletic facilities, requiring physical capability to handle sports equipment and demonstrate skills as needed. There may be exposure to infectious diseases and varying weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

A high school diploma or equivalent, along with a minimum of three years of experience as an assistant coach. Applicants must be at least 19 years old.

Licenses/Special Requirements:

A First Aid Certificate, CPR certification, and AED training are mandatory. Additionally, Red Cross Safety Training or Lifeguard certification is required for coaches involved in swimming, diving, and water polo.

COMPENSATION:

Salary will be determined based on the negotiated contract and verified coaching experience.
