Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia invites applications for a Business Analyst position in the VCU Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research. As a key member of the informatics team, you will serve as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders in clinical research at VCU, including the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the VCU Health System (VCUHS) compliance office, and study teams conducting clinical research.

Key Responsibilities:

This role will be responsible for shepherding individual projects through the research pipeline, recommending technical solutions to address research needs, collecting requirements for data extracts, and verifying that VCUHS and IRB regulatory requirements are followed when provisioning clinical datasets for research. You will also make use of Epic tools such as SlicerDicer and Reporting Workbench.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in a field related to healthcare or information technology, or equivalent work experience. At least two years of experience working in clinical research, healthcare, and/or informatics is also required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to clearly and concisely translate requirements and limitations between technical and non-technical personnel, are essential. You will also need to be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with competing demands from multiple stakeholders. Demonstrated competence organizing complex information in a clear and concise manner and a voracious appetite for learning new skills are also desirable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Professional experience working at the intersection of healthcare/clinical research and informatics, extensive knowledge of HIPAA regulations, experience using Epic SlicerDicer and Reporting Workbench, experience working as an IRB analyst, experience working with relational databases and writing SQL, and professional experience in project management are all preferred qualifications for this role.
