POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Procurement Coordinator at NCSOTA collaborates with various stakeholders, including the Nourish Food Services Director, Kitchen Supervisor, Student Engagement Liaison, Production Team, and local farmers/producers, to ensure effective management of seasonal, locally sourced ingredients for the Nourish NCSA menu and food initiatives.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Kitchen Operations Oversight:
Manage the receipt of availability lists, deliveries, and the timely preparation/storage rotation of all local products in Nourish inventory.

Facilitate communication among all Nourish Team members and local producers to ensure timely and accurate information exchange.

Supervise and engage in the washing, preparation, and storage of local ingredients.

Contribute to menu development alongside the Food Services Director, Kitchen Supervisor, and Student Engagement Liaison, utilizing available local products.

Ensure the cleanliness and organization of local products in the kitchen, adhering to sanitation standards and regulations.

Maintain an up-to-date understanding of local product inventory.

Demonstrate proficiency in basic arithmetic operations and the ability to interpret various documents such as safety protocols and operational manuals.

Address practical problems and manage a variety of concrete variables in diverse situations.

Team Engagement:
Recruit and collaborate with local growers/producers, fostering a collective approach.

Organize and facilitate annual or bi-annual gatherings of local growers/producers to enhance procurement processes for Nourish NCSOTA.

Work with the Nourish Food Services Director and Kitchen Supervisor to develop standard operating procedures and order guides for local product inventory.


Collaborate with the Nourish Food Services Director, NCSOTA School Wellness Committee, and NCSOTA Admin Staff to plan and execute an annual community farmer's market at NCSOTA.

Promote a work environment that values diversity and inclusivity.

Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, including food handling, sanitation, and hygiene standards.


Foster a commitment to excellence and equity by ensuring that local growers and producers are valued, respected, and compensated fairly for their goods/services.


Establish and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including growers/producers, students, staff, school administration, parents, and community members.

Respond to all forms of school-related communication.

Report any unsafe working conditions.

Comply with all NCSOTA Employee Handbook guidelines.

Complete mandatory training (both video and in-person) within the first six weeks of employment and annually thereafter.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Willingness to learn and demonstrate a strong work ethic.

Proven experience in settings that support local procurement, such as farms, CSAs, farmer's markets, natural food co-ops, or farm-to-table establishments.

Strong culinary skills and knowledge of scratch cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment operation.

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse team.

Familiarity with food safety regulations and certification in food handling and sanitation (e.g., ServSafe).

Organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage multiple ordering and receiving schedules, menus, and inventory.

Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
