Responsibilities
  • Examine and assemble surgical instruments and equipment to ensure they are clean, properly assembled, and functioning correctly.
  • Decontaminate and sterilize instruments and equipment to prevent cross-contamination and ensure patient safety.
  • Act as a resource for staff on instrument identification, use, and availability.
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Assist with the preparation of case carts and follow sterilization protocols.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance department operations and team function.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions.
  • Computer skills and experience with sterilization equipment.
  • Registered Central Service Tech certification.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids.
  • Heavy lifting (30-40 lbs).
  • Hepatitis vaccination required.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergent situations.
  • Strength and dexterity to handle surgical instruments and equipment.
