Position Summary:
The Novelis Ashville Manufacturing Facility operates advanced manufacturing processes, including continuous coil coating paint lines and metal slitting operations.

The Senior Maintenance Technician role within the Maintenance Department is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical, electrical, electronic, and programmable controlled systems.

Qualified candidates should possess relevant work experience and demonstrate the ability to conduct preventive maintenance on industrial equipment and machinery, set up new machinery, and perform skilled tasks such as welding, cutting, brazing, fabricating, pipe fitting, rigging, carpentry, machining, modifications, and installations.


Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to safety protocols in compliance with all facility safety and environmental regulations

Report any irregularities in equipment operation or materials; maintain a clean and organized workspace

Under guidance, coordinate and execute various tasks associated with assigned duties

Plan, design, and construct workstation tables, conveyors, platforms, and other aids to enhance ergonomics, safety, and overall working conditions

Possess fundamental mechanical and electrical knowledge and be capable of interpreting prints, diagrams, drawings, schematics, programs, and operating instructions to fabricate tools, fixtures, and workstation equipment, as well as troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade machinery

Operate various mobile equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, powered manlifts, and overhead cranes

Input maintenance work order data into computerized systems

Contribute to the Company's continuous improvement initiatives

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory

Availability to work night shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays

1-3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

Exhibit a strong commitment to personal safety and the safety of others

Demonstrate a willingness to engage in plant safety programs

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and exhibit self-direction

Effective verbal communication skills are essential

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite: MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint; Oracle, and various analytical tools

Exhibit a strong work ethic and a positive attitude

Willingness to train others as necessary

Strong decision-making skills are required

Flexibility to adapt as job focus and assignments may change frequently

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in machine shop operations is highly advantageous

Forklift certification from a previous employer or state agency

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Candidates for this position must be capable of sitting, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, and climbing stairs or ladders as part of their routine duties.

Individuals must also be able to hear, speak, see (including near, far, and peripheral vision), manipulate objects with fingers, hands, or arms; lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; and reach above, at, or below shoulder level during the normal course of their duties.

Keyboarding is a routine function.

Shift differentials are available for night shifts.

CANDIDATES MUST BE ABLE TO WORK A NIGHT SHIFT, 6P-6A, ON A ROTATING BASIS. (work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days, off 2 days). Availability for overtime, weekends, and holidays is required.

Founded in 1971, the Novelis Ashville Manufacturing Facility is a finishing plant with coating capabilities operating continuously. The facility employs approximately 200 individuals and primarily serves the Building & Construction and Commercial Transportation sectors.
