Mathematics Lecturer Position

This is a standing posting to remain open throughout the academic year. The percentage of appointment varies from semester to semester, dependent upon the number of courses being taught at one time. UPlan benefits are offered for positions of 75% time (30 hours per week) or higher.
- Deliver high-quality instruction to mathematics undergraduate or graduate-level courses per academic year;
- Course assignments may range from undergraduate courses to professional masters courses in financial mathematics;
- Prepare and implement course materials, including syllabi;
- Engage with students through email, phone, or in-person interactions;
- Evaluate student performance through exams, papers, presentations, and final exams;
- Submit final grades;
- Courses may be offered online or in person
Required Qualifications:
- PhD degree in the mathematical sciences or a related field
- Experience teaching university-level undergraduate or graduate math courses
The School of Mathematics, located in the heart of the College of Science and Engineering, has about sixty faculty covering essentially all areas of mathematics. The School has a long history of interdisciplinary research, but is equally strong in the core areas of mathematics. Students have opportunities to participate in programs at the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications, the Minnesota Center for Financial and Actuarial Mathematics, the Minnesota Center for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, and the School of Mathematics Center for Educational Programs. PhD alumni and alumnae are spread throughout universities, colleges, industry, and national labs.
