Position Overview:

The Building Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility's infrastructure. Under the guidance of the Lead Engineer, this position addresses various operational challenges and maintains the integrity of the building's systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, operate, and assess all mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, pneumatic controls, and utility services.
  • Respond to inquiries and service requests from staff and visitors regarding building operations.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, system operations, and any incidents that occur.
  • Communicate significant issues promptly to the supervising engineer and management.
  • Perform repairs on equipment and systems as necessary.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of building systems, including the locations of critical control components.
  • Utilize technical documentation, schematics, and service manuals to guide work activities.
  • Ensure the facility operates safely and efficiently at all times.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of mechanical spaces and equipment.
  • May assist with tasks across various maintenance trades, as required.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and schedules as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a trade school program or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in managing complex building systems, with a strong understanding of HVAC operations, maintenance protocols, and utility management.
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment related to building system maintenance.
  • Ability to wear safety equipment as required.
  • Physical capability to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects, along with visual acuity for detailed inspections.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations as needed.

Supervision:

This position operates under the general supervision of the Lead Engineer or designated authority.

Work Environment:

Work may be performed in various facility locations, with potential exposure to hazardous materials and conditions. Physical stamina and dexterity are required for tasks involving ladders and confined spaces.
