Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacist Intern to join our team at California Rehabilitation Institute. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will assist pharmacists in providing medications to patients and perform routine duties in a hospital pharmacy.

Responsibilities
  • Fills medication cassettes under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Prepares IV medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Prints out and fills label requests for First dose or Stat medications. All labels and medications are inspected by a pharmacist prior to being delivered.
  • Fills Floor Stock and Controlled Substances requests under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Delivers supplies and medications to other departments as needed.
  • Re-packages bulk forms of medications into unit dose packing. Completes accompanying records which are then co-signed by the inspecting pharmacist.
  • In absence of the Director of Pharmacy or Senior Pharmacy Technician, orders, unpacks and stores supplies. Ensures all items are verified against invoice before being stored.
  • Compiles outdated medications through monthly inspection of Pharmacy, and returns to appropriate vendor.
  • Performs Quality Improvement activities as directed.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Requirements
  • Registered as an Intern Pharmacist with the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write the English language.
  • Individuals must be able to do calculations involving ratios, proportions and percentages.
  • Subject to background and reference check.
  • Must be able to use the following equipment: calculator, computer printer, PC, medication carts, automated dispensing machines, etc. Proficiency in the operations of specialized equipment is necessary for assignment to specialized areas.
Working Conditions

The intern pharmacist must be able to rotate shifts, alternate weekends, and rotate throughout any areas requiring the assistance of a pharmacy intern.
