Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Instructional Teaching Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our educational support staff, you will work closely with students, teachers, and families to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities- Assist students with daily living and educational tasks, including structured teaching strategies, toileting, and feeding as needed.
- Implement strategies outlined in student IEPs and behavior plans to promote communication and social skills.
- Supervise students during snack/lunch, physical/sensory activities, bus duty, and community outings.
- Prepare the classroom for the next day's activities by preparing materials, cleaning, and organizing the room.
- Counsel students as needed regarding their progress and guide them in developing positive relationships with peers and adults.
- Maintain open communication with family members and ensure confidentiality of student and team member information.
- Licensed through ISBE as a Paraprofessional or Substitute Teacher.
- Experience working with children with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Computer skills in word processing, internet, and electronic mail software.
- Self-motivation and self-initiation.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about to assist clients/students, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. The ability to observe details at a close range and communicate information and ideas so others will understand is required.
