This is a part-time position, requiring 20 hours per week, funded through a grant for a duration of three years, and is available year-round.

This role involves collaboration with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, the Dean, and the Department Chair in Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science, along with partners from Purdue University. The primary focus will be on the development, coordination, organization, marketing, and execution of a two-week immersive summer program for high school students across the READI region, which encompasses multiple counties.


Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will engage with the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, the Dean, and the Department Chair in Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering & Applied Science, as well as Purdue counterparts, to facilitate the planning and delivery of a comprehensive summer program aimed at high school students.


Additionally, this position entails recruiting students for the summer program, which will take place on both campuses, providing students with insights into the semiconductor industry and opportunities in higher education.


The role will also encompass specific grant-related tasks, particularly focusing on outreach and educational initiatives aimed at high school students regarding Ivy Tech's offerings that align with the semiconductor and microelectronics sectors.


Furthermore, coordination with the grant Program Manager from Purdue will be essential for any grant-related responsibilities that arise.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree is required.
  • Background or education in manufacturing or a STEM-related field.
  • Experience working with high school students (managing groups of 60 to 75).
  • Demonstrated reliability and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Excel and Word, along with graphic design capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and perform under pressure.
  • Quick information processing skills.
  • Exhibit patience and diplomacy in various situations.
  • Capability to navigate challenging scenarios to achieve positive outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM-related discipline.
  • Interest or experience in electronics or semiconductors is preferred but not mandatory.

Other Requirements:

The selected candidate will undergo pre-employment background checks, including criminal history and registry checks, with employment contingent upon satisfactory results.

Working Hours:

Primarily during daytime hours, with occasional evening or weekend commitments.
