Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct general repairs and maintenance on a variety of vehicles including cars, trucks, golf carts, mowers, boats, small engines, and heavy machinery.
  • Ensure the mechanical integrity and physical condition of over-the-road vehicles, guaranteeing their reliability and safety for operational needs.
  • Oversee the maintenance of utility vehicles, ensuring they are safe, reliable, and compliant with road standards.
  • Manage the upkeep of the electric golf cart fleet, ensuring all carts are mechanically sound and safe for use.
  • Maintain heavy equipment, including gas and diesel engines, along with hydraulic systems.
  • Inspect and maintain rental vehicles and vans, ensuring they are in excellent mechanical condition through daily safety checks.
  • Assist in the routine safety and preventive maintenance inspections of all vehicles and heavy equipment, ensuring compliance with established schedules.
  • Maintain an inventory of small engine equipment, including landscaping tools and pumps.
  • Provide mechanical support for amusement rides, ensuring they meet all safety standards and are in clean working order.
  • Ensure the boat fleet is maintained in a reliable and safe condition, with all safety equipment operational.
  • Offer recommendations for improvements within the maintenance department's operations.
  • Keep the workplace organized and orderly, including personal tools and work area.
  • Exhibit professional conduct that aligns with the values of Lion Country Safari and the Maintenance Department.
  • Support maintenance and landscaping tasks at designated locations as required.
  • Complete all assigned tasks as directed by management.
  • Work flexible hours as determined by management needs.
  • Perform a variety of mechanical tasks including tune-ups, tire changes, electrical system repairs, bodywork, hydraulics, steering, and suspension work.
  • Maintain a positive representation of Lion Country Safari in all interactions.
  • Contribute to the cleanliness and organization of the park.
  • Monitor guest compliance with park rules and report any concerns regarding animal welfare.
  • Maintain a tidy and organized workspace at all times.
  • Be familiar with emergency and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to punctuality and teamwork.
  • Adhere to all standard operating procedures and policies consistently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management or team leads.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • At least 5 years of experience in automotive mechanical diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Possession of necessary tools for the job.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • 5 or more ASE certifications are preferred.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays is essential.
  • Ability to work in various physical environments, including exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and weather conditions.
