Lion Country Safari is looking for a FT General Fleet Mechanic who has a positive attitude, excellent work ethic, works well in a team, and takes pride in their work

The primary job functions of this position will include: General repair and maintenance to cars, trucks, golf carts, mowers, boats, small engines and heavy equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Lion Country Safari’s mechanical and physical condition of over the road vehicles ensuring the availability when needed of reliable and safe vehicles.
  • Maintain LCS utility vehicles, ensuring the availability of safe, reliable, utilitarian vehicles and that the vehicles meet over the road standards, lights, tiers, glass etc.
  • Maintain LCS electric Golf cart fleet ensuring the availability of mechanically reliable, safe Golf carts.
  • Maintain LCS heavy equipment, gas and diesel engines including hydraulic components.
  • Maintain LCS rental vehicles and vans in a safe, excellent mechanical and physical condition by conducting a safety, mechanical, and physical daily inspection. Reposition the rental vehicles as needed.
  • Assist with the rotating safety and preventive maintenance inspection on every LCS vehicle and heavy equipment.
  • The cycle completion shall not exceed every three months. Inspection records shall be maintained, and a weekly report of inspections is to be submitted every Monday to the department manager.
  • Maintain small engine equipment inventory consisting of landscaping equipment, pumps, blowers etc.
  • Maintain other mechanical equipment as needed.
  • Provide assistant with the mechanical maintenance of LCS rides, ensuring they are in clean mechanical condition and that they meet all safety standards.
  • Maintain the boat fleet in a mechanically reliable, safe condition. Ensures all safety equipment and safety systems are in place and functioning.
  • Make recommendations on all aspects of the Maintenance departments operation.
  • Maintain the Fleet workplace in a neat and orderly fashion inclusive of personnel tools and personal appearance.
  • Personal conduct shall be maintained at a professional level supporting the initiatives of Lion Country Safari and the Maintenance Department.
  • Provide support, maintenance, landscaping etc. to the KOA as assigned for a minimum of two days per week.
  • Perform all work assignments as deemed necessary by management.
  • Work the days of the week and hours of the day deemed necessary by management.
  • Work scopes are inclusive but not limited to tune ups, tire changes, electrical systems body work, hydraulics, steering system, and suspension work etc.
  • Must always conduct his/herself in a positive manner and represent Lion Country Safari positively, on and off the property.
  • Assist in keeping park neat and tidy.
  • When working in the drive through preserve, make sure all guests are observing park rules, regulations, and look for signs of distressed animals and report them to Lion One
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment at all times
  • Familiarity with emergency and safety procedures
  • Must possess a good work ethic and make every effort to be at work, on time, and be a team player
  • Develop proficiency and adhere to all LCS standard operating procedures and policies at all times
  • Other duties as assigned by management or leads

POSTION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • 5+ years of automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience
  • Reliable transportation
  • Must have tools to perform work required
  • Valid FL Driver’s License
  • 5 or more ASE certifications preferred
  • All applicants must work weekends and holidays
  • Exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements often
