Automation Systems Engineer II

Job Summary
Raytheon Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Automation Systems Engineer to join our team within the Effectors portfolio. The role involves sustaining and improving physical automation solutions, as well as supporting the design, development, and implementation of new automation solutions and advanced IIoT/Industry 4.0 technologies for manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Continuous improvement, upgrades, and sustainment of deployed automation systems using core ASE skills, including PLC programming, Robotics programming, Vision programming, HMI programming, and controls upgrades.
- Collaboration with the factory to identify, develop, and deploy process automation systems and digital solutions.
- Integration of equipment with business systems for performance monitoring, data collection, and/or transactional automation.
What You Will Learn
- Exposure to the full I4.0 project lifecycle, from requirements generation to technical project management to execution and sustainment of automation projects.
- Development of new automation opportunities.
- Quantifying business value.
- Presentation to leadership and coordination across functions to execute initiatives.
Qualification Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in manufacturing operations/engineering, systems engineering, controls engineering, and/or automation engineering; or an advanced STEM degree with a minimum of 1 year professional experience.
- Experience with automation mechanisms, controls, PLC programming, robotics programming, equipment troubleshooting, and/or vision systems programming.
- Experience supporting or troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DoD Secret Clearance.
- Fanuc Robotics experience.
- Rockwell PLC experience.
- Keyence, Cognex, or iRVision programming experience.
- Python or other scripting experience.
- Experience with control systems design (AutoCAD preferred).
