Position Overview

Summary

Our school is situated on a beautiful 200-acre campus, surrounded by forests and streams, where we emphasize the importance of year-round outdoor learning. Our curriculum includes activities such as trail walking, gardening, and seasonal festivals, all designed to immerse children in nature. At The Garland School, we foster a community centered on care and mutual support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing classroom environment that caters to the emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of each child.
  • Facilitate a weekly rhythm of activities that promote imaginative play and creative expression.
  • Assist in daily circle time, incorporating songs, fingerplays, and movement games.
  • Integrate meaningful tasks such as gardening, handwork, and cooking into the daily schedule, reflecting the Waldorf philosophy of home-like learning.
  • Ensure the classroom remains organized and well-maintained, taking care of educational materials and toys.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with children, particularly those aged 3 and under.
  • Completion of three college credits in human development or education, or a commitment to obtain relevant certification within the first year of employment.
  • A collaborative spirit, enthusiastic about engaging with colleagues and nurturing children.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience or interest in Waldorf education.
  • Background in outdoor education or a desire to learn.
