Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician to join our team at Carolina CAT. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing customer equipment in a shop or field environment.
Key Responsibilities- Review work schedules, check equipment, and prepare for operations at the start of each shift.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, using problem-solving techniques and repair options for Caterpillar machines, engines, and components.
- Determine technical or physical status using on-board computers, service documents, and product improvement programs.
- Verify findings, review readings of gauges, and compare to manufacturer specifications.
- Prepare plans to correct problems, consulting with coworkers or lead technicians as needed.
- Order or obtain parts, tools, or special services to complete repairs.
- Install, replace, rebuild, or repair parts and equipment in a timely manner, adhering to specifications.
- Test parts or equipment and perform quality checks after completion.
- Perform general housekeeping duties, maintain company vehicles, and ensure departmental compliance with safety and contamination control guidelines.
- Meet productivity targets and complete all required paperwork at the end of each shift.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Successful completion of the level three service technician development program.
- At least 6 years of experience in heavy equipment, engine, or electric power generation system mechanic repair.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and engines, including diagnostic tools and electrical/electronic system applications.
The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, using hands to handle equipment, and talking or hearing. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, equipment, and potentially hazardous conditions. The noise level in some work environments may be loud.
