Job Overview

Astra Group, LLC is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating heavy motorized equipment used in earth moving and construction operations in a safe and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, and trenchers to perform various tasks on construction sites.
  • Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions and on all terrain, including uneven and slippery surfaces.
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks on equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
  • Repair or assist in the repair and maintenance of construction vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required, including fluid and filter changes and parts lubrication.
  • Clean equipment as scheduled or when required to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Ensure equipment is safely and securely stored when finished for the day.
  • Practice workplace safety per OSHA standards and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work independently and stay on top of the schedule.
  • Willingness to perform general labor work outside of equipment operations as needed.
  • Maintain a neat appearance and dress appropriately for the job.
  • Good attendance and a positive attitude about the company and the job.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Requirements
  • Proven ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
  • Valid driver/operator license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent or at least one year of experience in heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Must present a professional image and represent the company in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner.
  • Skilled with various hand and power tools.
  • Competent operating excavators, backhoes, trenchers, and other heavy equipment.
Physical Requirements
  • Sit, stand, and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workday.
  • Stand, reach, drive, and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the day.
  • Bend, kneel, squat, and climb throughout the workday.
  • Lift from 10 to 150 pounds.
  • Work both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and may be in loud environments.
  • Must work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety of him/herself or others.
Language Skills
  • Must be able to read and comprehend English.
