Patient Service Representative

Job Summary:
The Patient Service Representative will provide exceptional patient care and support in a fast-paced medical office environment. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient office operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greets patients and visitors, directs them to appropriate locations, and provides assistance as needed.
- Receives and responds to incoming calls, transfers calls to appropriate departments, and forwards messages in a timely manner.
- Maintains daily patient appointment scheduling, answers incoming calls, and makes patient appointment reminder calls.
- Registers and updates patient demographic information into the patient accounting system.
- Collects and enters patient payments, advance payments, and payments on account into the patient accounting system.
- Maintains a neat and organized work area.
- Notifies supervisor and/or management of suspicious activity observed in or around the office.
- Confidentially maintains patient Protected Health Information (PHI) and adheres to the Employee Confidentiality Statement.
- Actively participates in and complies with all aspects of the Corporate Compliance Program.
- Performs end-of-day tasks and reporting.
- Observes schedule for work, lunch, and breaks.
- Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and other internal committees, special projects, or activities that promote improvements in organizational performance and advance the mission, goals, and objectives of New Horizon Family Health Services, Inc.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Medical Office Training certificate or other relevant education and training beyond high school preferred.
- Preferably two (2) years of experience in a medical office or other healthcare facility setting.
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, and the public.
- Demonstrates basic math computation skills.
- Pleasant personality, pleasing, professional appearance, and disposition.
- Punctual and extremely reliable.
- Ability to understand and follow in detail both verbal and written instructions.
- Exercises discretion and sound judgment when dealing with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
