Position Overview:
As a Senior Building Plans Evaluator, you will play a crucial role in the Community Development sector by meticulously reviewing residential and light commercial building plans. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all plans, construction methods, and materials comply with local zoning, building, fire, plumbing, and mechanical regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
1. Conduct thorough examinations of building plans and approve materials that meet specific application standards.
2. Assess plumbing and sewage disposal systems, including repairs, alterations, and installations.
3. Evaluate mechanical systems such as air handling units, furnaces, and ventilation systems for compliance with relevant codes.
4. Provide interpretations of plumbing, building, and mechanical codes as necessary.
5. Address zoning code violations and respond to inquiries regarding mobile home plans.
6. Ensure compliance with county standards for public infrastructure such as curbs, driveways, and sidewalks.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Building Construction, Building Inspection Technology, Architecture, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience that equips you with the necessary skills and knowledge.
- At least one certification from the International Code Council (ICC) or other recognized organizations, such as Building Plans Examiner or Plumbing Plans Examiner, is required upon hire. Additionally, candidates must obtain one more certification from the specified list within one year of employment.

- Proficiency in interpreting building plans and specifications for residential and light commercial structures.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- The capability to handle challenging situations with professionalism and tact.

- Practical Exam (Pass/Fail)
- Oral Interview
