Job Summary

The Capital City Anesthesia Group (TCCAG) is seeking a skilled Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its team at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center campus. As a CRNA, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality anesthesia care to patients in a team-oriented approach.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pre-anesthetic preparation and patient evaluation to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Ensure patient identification and obtain appropriate health history to inform anesthesia care.
  • Recommend, request, and evaluate pertinent diagnostic studies to support anesthesia care.
  • Document pre-anesthetic evaluation and anesthesia care provided.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia and ensure patient understanding of anesthesia care.
  • Select and/or administer pre-anesthetic medications to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  • Select, prepare, and administer anesthetic agents or other agents administered in management of anesthetic care.
  • Inform anesthesiologist and/or surgeon of changes in patient's condition to ensure seamless care.
  • Provide anesthesia induction, maintenance, emergence, and post-anesthesia care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Insert invasive line catheters/devices and perform tracheal intubation and extubation, airway management.
  • Provide mechanical ventilation and perform venous and arterial punctures.
  • Obtain blood samples and manage patient's fluid, blood, electrolyte, and acid-base balance.
  • Provide peri-anesthetic invasive and non-invasive monitoring utilizing current standards and techniques.
  • Respond to abnormal findings with corrective action to ensure patient safety.
  • Recognize and treat cardiac dysrhythmias through use of peri-anesthetic electrocardiogram monitoring.
  • Evaluate patient response during emergence from anesthesia and institute pharmacological or supportive treatment as needed.
  • Provide post-anesthesia follow-up, report, and evaluation of patient's response to anesthesia and for potential anesthetic complications.
  • Identify and manage emergency situations, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Perform or order equipment safety checks as needed and clean and sterilize equipment.
Requirements
  • Diploma, Master's Degree, or Doctoral Degree in Nurse Anesthesia or Equivalent Content Area.
  • Unencumbered, Louisiana license as a registered nurse.
  • Unencumbered, Louisiana license as an advanced practice registered nurse.
  • Current certification or recertification as a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Employment Options

The Capital City Anesthesia Group offers flexible employment options to accommodate your needs:

  • PRN Option: As-needed 8-hour, 12-hour, and/or 24-hour shift availability, including weekday, weekend, and overnight options.
  • Full-Time Option (1): Scheduled 40 hours/week with 8-hour, 12-hour, and/or 24-hour shift availability, with minimal call obligations and opportunities for overtime and extra shifts.
  • Full-Time Option (2): Scheduled 36 hours/week with rotating schedule of three (3) consecutive 12-hour shifts (M, T, W, and W/Th/F) with one overnight beeper call per week (7p-7a), with opportunities for overtime and extra shifts.
