Job Summary

The Regional Director - Team Lead/Organizational Strategist is a key leadership position within SEIU Local 2015, responsible for leading a team of staff and member leaders to develop and execute strategies that advance the organization's goals in their geographic region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Regional Plans: Develop comprehensive campaign plans that align with organizational goals and execute strategies to increase outcomes on internal organizing, representational activities, and member leadership development.
  • Lead and Develop Team: Provide direction, staff development, and accountability measures to staff in their region, including disciplinary action if needed.
  • Build Relationships and Collaborate: Build and maintain relationships with external partners, media, and elected officials to advance the organization's goals.
  • Develop Member Leaders: Support the development of member leaders to confidently execute organizational goals in their region.
  • Provide Strategic Input: Provide strategic input to Officers on organizational goals and develop budget recommendations for implementation of regional plans.
  • Represent the Organization: Act as a spokesperson for the respective Executive Vice President and represent the organization in various settings.
Requirements
  • Experience and Education: A minimum of five years of experience as a Union staff person leading and supervising multiple teams of staff on internal or external organizing campaigns, with at least 2 years of contract bargaining and representational experience.
  • Skills and Competencies: Effective oral and written communication, public presentations, informal and formal negotiating, effective facilitation, planning and evaluation, active listening, and self-reflection.
Physical Requirements

The work is generally performed in the field with members and outside constituents, requiring long and irregular hours, as well as travel.

Scope and Nature of Supervision

The Regional Director reports directly to their assigned officer or Statewide Field Director.
