Job Summary

GCI Communication Corp is seeking a skilled Network Maintenance Technician I to join our team. As a Network Maintenance Technician I, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications equipment and network facilities to ensure high-quality service delivery to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and maintain telecommunications equipment, including analog and digital systems, to provide video, voice, and data services to customers.
  • Perform routine maintenance, surveillance, and construction operations on radio frequency, microwave, fiber optic, AC/DC, wireless, wireline, and HFC networks, facilities, and related components.
  • Utilize test equipment to measure and adjust signal strength to ensure optimum reception.
  • Perform preventative or corrective maintenance, including underground cable locates, outage response, rewiring or upgrading cabling and equipment, impairment mitigation, system drive off, and repairs.
  • Monitor and support critical network elements to maintain the continuous operation of network and system infrastructure.
  • Carry out assigned construction activities in support of new plant construction, rebuilds, and existing plant upgrades, adhering to applicable construction codes and safety regulations.
  • Support senior staff technicians and mentor junior technicians with install, test, and repair of custom service orders.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a technical telecom role or related background.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and be able to work with a diverse group of people and customers.
  • Ability to make valid judgments and decisions.
  • Available to work additional time on weekends, holidays, before or after normal work hours when necessary.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent travel to various locations throughout the state. The employee must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat, and be able to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds more regularly, and up to 20 pounds frequently.
