Network Maintenance Technician III

GCI is seeking a highly skilled Network Maintenance Technician III to join our team in Fairbanks, AK. As a key member of our network maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of our telecommunications network.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades to network facilities, systems, and equipment.
- Utilize test equipment to measure and adjust signal strength to ensure optimum reception.
- Perform preventative or corrective maintenance, such as underground cable locates, outage response, rewiring or upgrading cabling and equipment.
- Collaborate with senior staff technicians and mentor junior technicians with install, test, and repair of custom service orders.
- Install, service, and troubleshoot telecommunications equipment, including analog or digital systems for video, voice, and data services.
- Responsible for basic vehicle maintenance, truck stock, and following the company's safe driving and other applicable policies.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a technical telecom role or related background.
- Including two (2) years of complex related field experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of and ability to accurately interpret and apply NEC, NESC, OSHA, FCC and company rules and regulations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of routine maintenance procedures, surveillance, and construction operations including radio frequency, microwave, fiber optic, AC/DC, wireless, wireline, HFC networks, facilities, and related components providing video, voice, and data services.
- Associate degree in electronics or relevant field, telecommunications trade school, or equivalent training.
- Telecommunications experience.
- Other relevant telecom industry or job specific certifications.
- Work includes working inside/outside in typical cold weather conditions.
- Subject to adverse weather and driving conditions; must be able to cope with a remote arctic environment.
- High degree of balance, coordination, and strength needed to ascend, descend, and work atop poles, towers, and ladders with tools and equipment safely and routinely.
