Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer (Structural) to join our team at Naval Facilities Engineering Command. As a key member of our Business Directorate, Capital Improvements, Engineering and Design, Structural Engineering team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity of our facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Assess the structural condition of facilities to determine the need for repairs and modifications.
  • Analyze and design extensive structural alterations to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by A/E design firms.
  • Develop written documents, including specifications, test requirement documents, and drawings, for civil engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with design and drafting software to complete design drawings and specifications.
  • Review plans, designs, and construction phases to ensure civil engineering projects remain within scope.
  • Investigate construction issues and provide recommendations for remediation or corrective measures.
  • Advise on solutions to problems encountered during projects.
Requirements
  • At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Professional experience in structural engineering, including providing professional structural engineering products, services, and consultation.
  • Experience in ensuring planning, design, and construction are completed in accordance with specifications, criteria, policy, industry codes, and standards.
  • Ability to perform design analyses and calculations for structural projects.
  • Experience in developing complex designs and analyses utilizing advanced structural engineering software.
Education

A bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or a degree in a related field with relevant experience.

Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.
