IV Therapy Specialist

The Vascular Access Nurse plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating nursing care related to Vascular Access and IV Therapy for patients, adhering to established clinical nursing standards at both state and national levels. This position is dedicated to ensuring the safe and efficient management of all patient care aspects associated with IV Therapy. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating patient care and administrative processes to deliver optimal patient care and customer service.
The Vascular Access Nurse acts as both a clinician and educator, showcasing clinical expertise and providing education to patients to develop effective care plans. Critical thinking, management skills, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in medical terminology are essential, along with the capacity to recognize and respond to urgent or emergent situations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and oversee IV/Infusion Therapy procedures.
- Ensure daily schedule accuracy and efficiency.
- Review upcoming appointments for any modifications.
- Verify patient eligibility for treatment based on payer protocols.
- Conduct insurance benefit verifications for each visit.
- Manage prior authorizations and ensure timely updates in the system.
- Determine appropriate purchasing methods for medications.
- Complete necessary enrollment forms and process accordingly.
- Place orders for procedures and manage referrals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the infusion area.
- Ensure medical equipment is functional and sanitized.
- Monitor and order necessary medications and supplies.
- Maintain accurate logs for injectable medications.
- Prepare infusion bags and gather supplies as per protocols.
- Document all relevant patient information and treatment details.
- Uphold confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in meetings and contribute to professional development opportunities.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Valid RN or LPN certification.
- Experience in IV/Infusion Therapy.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHR systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and patient care procedures.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards and respond effectively in emergencies.
- Commitment to professional growth and development.
This position operates in a clinical setting, utilizing standard office equipment and requiring a full range of motion to assist patients.
