Position Overview:
The Chief Finance Officer is accountable for overseeing all aspects of financial management, billing, accounting, and human resources functions within the organization. This role includes collaboration with the CEO on strategic, operational, and fiscal planning, as well as managing annual budgets and resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Establishing objectives, policies, and procedures to ensure effective financial operations and maintaining fiscal health;
- Managing and directing all payroll, purchasing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting activities;
- Overseeing third-party reimbursements to maximize revenue streams;
- Assisting the CEO with budgeting and capital development initiatives involving funding sources;
- Supervising the timely submission of all regulatory reports, including tax returns and annual audits;
- Ensuring accurate completion of the annual agency audit and maintaining appropriate financial documentation;
- Managing the inventory and capitalization of all organizational assets in compliance with federal guidelines;
- Preparing monthly financial statements and balance sheets for the CEO and Board of Directors, highlighting significant trends in financial performance;
- Implementing a compliance program to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and contractual obligations.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Certification as a Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred. A minimum of 5-10 years of progressive management and accounting experience in a non-profit or healthcare setting is essential. Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, Peachtree Accounting software, and other relevant systems is required. The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines is crucial.
Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with the principles and practices of non-profit healthcare organizations. Understanding of state and federal regulations related to healthcare finance. Knowledge of the structure and operations of federally qualified health centers. Experience with computerized accounting systems, budgeting, and financial data management, including third-party billing and cost reporting.
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be necessary.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
Work Hours: Minimum of 40 hours per week.
