Lead Phlebotomy Specialist in White Plains, NY

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Patterns LLC. As a key member of our medical laboratory team, you will be responsible for overseeing the phlebotomy and specimen processing workflow, ensuring the highest level of quality and efficiency in our laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities- Phlebotomy and Specimen Processing: Obtain blood specimens from patients using various techniques, adhering to established protocols and methods.
- Specimen Management: Unpack, register, and receive specimens, preparing them for laboratory testing while identifying and resolving any discrepancies or issues.
- Training and Competency: Provide training and assess the competency of accessioners and phlebotomists on their shifts, ensuring they meet the required standards.
- Customer Service: Respond to customer inquiries in a timely and accurate manner, providing excellent service to internal and external customers.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and reports, including the Specimen Master Log, and ensure seamless communication between shifts.
- Supply Management: Compile and document necessary supplies for outreach clients, maintaining an organized and efficient inventory system.
- ICD-10 Coding: Complete ICD-10 diagnosis coding for all MLW outreach accounts, contacting physician offices as needed to obtain required information.
- Stat Specimen Pick-up and Delivery: Collect and deliver STAT specimens to local physician office practices, ensuring timely and accurate results.
- Education: High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: 6-10 years of previous phlebotomy experience required, with phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Skills: Valid NYS driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and ability to type 35 words per minute required. Previous experience in a healthcare environment and medical terminology preferred.
