Position Overview

Role Summary
Act as a nutritional expert, offering tailored guidance to students, coaches, athletic trainers, support staff, and food service teams.

Evaluate dietary habits, conduct body composition assessments, and analyze energy balance to optimize nutrition for athletic training, competition, and recovery from physical or tactical training.

Play a vital role in maintaining high nutritional standards. Work closely with the Director of Culinary Operations to create menus that accommodate diverse dietary needs.

Key Responsibilities
Reasonable accommodations may be made to assist individuals with disabilities in fulfilling essential job functions. Responsibilities will be assessed during the Annual Performance Review.

1. Assist in developing cycle menus that ensure balanced nutritional value.
2. Conduct nutritional evaluations for cycle and offsite menus, ensuring all nutritional signage is accurate prior to each menu launch.
3. Address dietary restrictions, allergies, and religious considerations for students and customers.
4. Oversee recipe management and assist in recipe development.
5. Communicate nutrition-related information to staff and create nutritional awareness initiatives.
6. Help design and deliver nutrition education sessions, demonstrations, or events focused on performance-related nutrition.

Additional Duties
1. Adhere to program policies and procedures to implement nutritional aspects of the program.
2. Provide insights for menu creation, recipe development, and product testing.


3. Stand by the badge reader to offer information and answer inquiries regarding the daily menu, ensuring students have the necessary information to make informed food choices.

4. Conduct routine checks to ensure compliance with nutritional guidelines and standards, confirming that all served food meets required nutritional criteria.

5. Recommend suitable pre-exercise, during, and post-exercise fluids and snacks for individual and group training, assessments, and competitions.


6. Assist in crafting personalized meal and snack plans to support both short- and long-term health and operational readiness goals.

7. Develop marketing and nutrition awareness programs.

8. Establish and maintain relationships with external organizations related to nutrition and health to ensure ongoing updates and modifications as needed.

9. Perform other assigned responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications:
Education, Experience, and Certifications
1. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 5 FBI Security Clearance.
2. A bachelor's or master's degree in nutrition or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
3. Must be a Registered Dietitian recognized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.


4. A minimum of two years of experience as a dietitian is required, preferably in a food service environment with an emphasis on sports nutrition and tactical athletic recovery.

5. Familiarity with nutritional supplements, including herbal products, to assess legality, safety, quality, and effectiveness is preferred.
6. A valid driver's license and a clean motor vehicle record are required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
1. Strong understanding of nutrition principles and practices, particularly in relation to health and disease.
2. Awareness of current trends in public health nutrition and their application within this program.
3. Ability to effectively utilize educational materials for individual or group nutrition education.
4. Competence in gathering, interpreting, evaluating, and utilizing statistical data.
5. Capability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with program teams, customers, and contractors.
6. Proficiency in interacting effectively with a diverse range of individuals in various community settings.
