POSITION: Licensed Practical Nurse

REPORTS TO: Health and Wellness Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Licensed Practical Nurse plays a crucial role in collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide care for patients facing various health challenges. Responsibilities include effective communication with physicians and Registered Nurses regarding patient needs, administering medications and IVs, and utilizing medical equipment to monitor vital signs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Embrace and promote the mission, vision, and values of CIEL Senior Living.
  • Engage in thorough shift reporting to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with CIEL Senior Living standards to meet resident needs.
  • Oversee the activities of Resident Assistants during nursing shifts.
  • Participate in narcotic inventory checks during shift changes.
  • Administer medications in compliance with established protocols.
  • Conduct weekly audits of medication carts as assigned.
  • Assist in the reordering of medications as necessary.
  • Ensure the medication room is clean and organized.
  • Facilitate timely communication with pharmacies regarding new medication orders.
  • Notify families about the need for medication refills.
  • Coordinate with physician offices for necessary order adjustments.
  • Adhere to Physician Order Protocol for processing orders.
  • Document any changes in resident conditions as per policy.
  • Support the completion of chart audits and necessary documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of resident care plans.
  • Accurately document incident reports in a timely manner.
  • Update Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders as required.
  • Assist the Health and Wellness Director in managing resident care files.
  • Participate in community wellness initiatives and health screenings.
  • Record residents' vital signs, including temperature and blood pressure, as directed.
  • Monitor residents for medication responses and report any unusual reactions.
  • Provide counseling to residents on social or health-related issues.
  • Schedule medical appointments based on resident needs.
  • Respond promptly to resident call lights to ensure their needs are met.
  • Engage in ongoing training to stay updated with nursing practices and maintain licensure requirements.
  • Complete all mandated training and compliance documentation annually.
  • Ensure all caregiving duties are executed as assigned and documented.
  • Address concerns from associates, families, and residents to foster satisfaction and communication.
  • Be knowledgeable about emergency protocols and participate in drills.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all personal and health information.
  • Demonstrate understanding of compliance and ethics policies.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary to support the community and enhance resident care.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education required for state nursing licensure.
  • Current LPN licensure in good standing is mandatory.
  • Preferred experience of one to two years in assisted living settings.
  • CPR certification is essential.
  • Strong command of the English language for effective communication.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to perform tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Occasional sitting is required.
  • Frequent lifting of weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular climbing of stairs and bending as needed.
  • Frequent reaching and twisting movements.
