Position Overview:

The culinary specialist will support the kitchen team in food preparation and execute various culinary tasks as required. This role demands both physical stamina and mental resilience, thriving in a bustling environment.

Employment Type: Hourly, Full-Time

Compensation: $18.50- $21.00 plus tips

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:
  • Assisting in kitchen setup prior to service commencement
  • Overseeing stations to guarantee quality, temperature, and freshness of offerings
  • Maintaining all production standards
  • Ensuring all served dishes comply with company and health quality benchmarks
  • Preparing specialty items as instructed by the Executive Chef, CDC, or Sous Chef
  • Engaging in daily communication with the Executive Chef, CDC, and Sous Chef regarding product specifications and execution
  • Setting up and preparing food items for designated stations
  • Working swiftly and efficiently to ensure timely plating on the line
  • Assisting fellow culinary team members as necessary
  • Preparing assigned portions for plating as directed by chefs
  • Assembling dishes and adding garnishes
  • Monitoring and adhering to initiatives aimed at reducing food waste
  • Maintaining clean and sanitary work conditions
  • Properly storing unused items and shutting down all equipment at the end of the shift
  • Participating in kitchen cleaning before closing
  • Upholding all procedural manuals and guides, including but not limited to:
  • menu guide, prep book, inventory, plate presentations, recipe books, and kitchen SOP booklet
  • Remaining compliant with mandatory training, including workplace safety and harassment training
  • Adhering to all company protocols
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3+ years' experience in restaurants, hotels, or private events
Skills and Attributes:
  • Must be driven, diligent, and passionate

  • Maintain composure, think clearly, and resolve issues with sound judgment

Certifications and Licenses:
  • San Diego County Food Handlers Card (to be obtained within 30 days of employment). Serve Safe certification preferred.
  • Completion of anti-harassment and nondiscrimination training
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged durations
  • Must be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds safely
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Must be available to work during holidays, nights, and weekends
