The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Technician II to join our team. As a Field Technician II, you will be responsible for installing, testing, and troubleshooting network equipment and circuits, including fiber optic, transport, and critical infrastructure. You will work under minimal supervision, utilizing established guidelines, procedures, and policies to ensure effective performance of all functions required for Field Tech I.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot network equipment, remove/replace defective equipment, and work with resources to isolate and restore network.
  • Install, change, and decommission Next Generation technologies, including Edge Compute, Wavelength services, Fiber Optic Transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers.
  • Perform level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment.
  • Utilize industry-standard software and hardware to accurately locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities.
  • Responsible for asset management processes and replenishment of on-site/truck materials.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of company and customer materials.
  • Maintain tools, test sets, and all network equipment.
Requirements
  • 2+ years' experience working with installation, test, and turn-up of various telecommunications equipment.
  • Strong technical and mechanical background with experience on the latest generation transport gear, critical infrastructure, and fiber optic cable locating.
  • High degree of experience and/or knowledge of at least two major technician disciplines: Transmission, Switching, TCP/IP, and Outside Plant.
  • Ability to quickly learn corporate databases and software applications.
  • On-call 24x7 on a rotational basis, on stand-by, call out, dispatch, and overtime required as dictated by the business.
  • A valid driver's license required and satisfactory driving record.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize with good time management skills.
