Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with diesel engines and heavy equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes and tire rotations
  • Inspect and repair electrical, steering, braking, exhaust, and suspension systems
  • Work with hydraulic, body control, and electrical systems on refuse vehicles and transfer trailers
  • Perform basic fabrication work using welding equipment and tools
  • Order and maintain shop parts, tools, and equipment
  • Accurately complete paperwork and database entries
  • Act as a lead worker and instruct others on tasks and procedures
Requirements:
  • Four years of progressively responsible mechanical experience as a journeyman mechanic
  • Waste and recycling industry experience preferred
  • Expert knowledge of diesel and compressed natural gas engines, heavy equipment mechanical components, and fabrication tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of alternating and direct current electrical controls and motor systems
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local job site health and safety rules and regulations
  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with no restrictions required within 12 weeks of hire
