Job Overview

The Cardiovascular Patient Coordinator plays a vital role in assisting patients as they navigate the complexities of the healthcare system.

Work Schedule

This position operates from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. After a comprehensive training period of six months, this role can transition to a hybrid model, allowing for two days in the office and three days working remotely each week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to incoming inquiries from patients and healthcare providers, effectively triaging calls and scheduling appointments for office visits and necessary testing.
  • Collaborate with clinical and support teams to adjust schedules as needed, requiring strong critical thinking and judgment skills.
  • Manage calls related to pharmacy refills, surgical clearances, testing instructions, MyChart access, lab orders, transportation arrangements, and interpreter services.
  • Work closely with RN Navigators and Clinic RNs to address immediate patient concerns when necessary.
  • Facilitate the scheduling of both in-person and virtual appointments, including complex arrangements for procedural and diagnostic testing across various clinics and providers.
  • Document all interactions and patient demographics accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Gather comprehensive clinical, demographic, and financial information during the scheduling process, providing cost estimates for services and directing patients to financial counseling resources when appropriate.
  • Adhere to established guidelines for urgent requests and schedule modifications, ensuring effective communication with clinical areas to meet patient needs.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Healthcare while maintaining service behavior standards.
  • Meet performance metrics and call handling standards as defined by departmental management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in customer service.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of experience in a related medical field.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Prior experience in a call center or as a CNA, MA, or EMT.
  • Experience using Epic software.
  • Bilingual capabilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in operating computers and office equipment.
  • Ability to see and read computer screens and documents.
  • Capability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while performing tasks.
  • May involve lifting and transporting office supplies, as well as bending, kneeling, and reaching.
