Job Overview:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated individual to join our athletic department as a Basketball Program Assistant. This role is pivotal in supporting the Head Coach in various operational aspects of the basketball program.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes, focusing on diversity and talent acquisition.
- Engage in fundraising initiatives to support the basketball program.
- Aid in the development and execution of training programs and practice sessions.
- Coordinate game schedules and travel arrangements for the team.
- Provide coaching support during games and practices.

Compliance Responsibilities:

- Ensure adherence to all regulations set forth by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the policies of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Experience in playing or coaching basketball at the collegiate level.
- Familiarity with fundraising and recruitment processes.
- Strong judgment and critical thinking skills to assess student needs.
- Knowledge of college and NJCAA policies and procedures.
- Ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel needs.
- Flexibility to attend evening and weekend events.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Previous coaching experience in a collegiate basketball setting.
- Proven track record in fundraising and recruiting student-athletes.
