Position Summary:

We are in search of a meticulous and organized Heavy Haul Dispatcher to enhance our logistics operations. The successful candidate will oversee the coordination and management of the transportation of oversized and overweight cargo, ensuring punctual deliveries while adhering to all regulatory standards. This position demands exceptional communication skills, adept problem-solving capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of transportation logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispatch Management: Oversee the daily scheduling and dispatching of heavy haul vehicles, ensuring the effective and timely transport of goods.
  • Route Optimization: Create and refine transportation routes, taking into account load specifications, weight, road limitations, and necessary permits.
  • Load Management: Collaborate with clients, drivers, and external carriers to arrange and supervise the transport of heavy haul shipments.
  • Compliance Assurance: Guarantee that all shipments meet federal, state, and local regulations, including securing required permits and escorts for oversized shipments.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain open and efficient communication with drivers, clients, and other parties to provide real-time updates and resolve any transport-related issues.
  • Issue Resolution: Proactively address and resolve transportation challenges, including delays, equipment failures, and changes in routing.
  • Record Keeping: Diligently document all dispatch activities, including load information, driver assignments, route plans, and compliance records.
  • Safety Promotion: Advocate for and enforce safe transportation practices, ensuring adherence to safety protocols by all drivers.
  • Technology Application: Leverage dispatch software and other technological tools to manage and monitor shipments, driver locations, and delivery timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in dispatching, ideally within heavy haul or specialized transportation.
  • Knowledge Base: Strong grasp of transportation logistics, routing, and regulatory requirements for oversized shipments.
  • Communication Proficiency: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with drivers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
  • Problem-Solving Aptitude: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to make swift decisions and handle unforeseen circumstances.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in dispatch software, GPS technology, and other transportation management systems.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in transportation logistics or dispatching are advantageous.
  • Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent; further education in logistics or transportation management is preferred.

Working Environment:

  • Setting: Primarily office-based with occasional travel to client locations or transportation hubs.
  • Work Hours: Full-time position, with potential for overtime or on-call duties during peak times.
