Job Title: Outside Plant Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Outside Plant Design Engineer to join our team at Corning Incorporated. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex CAD designs for outside plant systems, equipment, and structures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create complex CAD designs utilizing numerous layers and blocks, incorporating custom title blocks and layouts as needed.
  • Develop permit drawings for City, County, DOT, and MOT permits, understanding where to gather necessary utility information and annotate into the drawing package.
  • Create High Level Design to define the path for the engineering fielding tech crew.
  • Occasional site visits to obtain necessary design information and confirm design requirements with the customer may be required.
Requirements:
  • Four-year degree from an accredited engineering program, preferably in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of combined experience in fiber optic design.
  • Successful candidate will have knowledge of AutoCAD, preferably Civil3D.
  • Candidate must be able to develop "out of the box" solutions using multiple product sets.
  • Experience designing fiber optic networks preferably using a centralized split topology.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Permit drawings to include Right of Way permits, aerial make ready, and/or Traffic Control Plans.
  • 3GIS experience.
  • Familiarization with Corning products.
  • Knowledge of Procore Technologies Construction Management Software.
  • Familiarity with outside plant surveying using devices like Trimble and IKE and understanding the incorporation of data transfers from these devices into CAD.
Other Requirements:
  • Minimum travel expected up to 25%.
