Job Description

The Senior Project Manager assists the Senior Director-U.S. Transformation in managing complex, large-scale projects in the portfolio. This is a business-based project management position.

Key Activities:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities assigned to projects to ensure project goals and objectives are accomplished within approved timeframe, scope, and budget.
  • Manage projects with a high level of value (benefit/cost) and a high level of complexity.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute projects with a value of $1M and above (benefit/cost) and at least a high level of complexity and uncertainty.
  • Work with business/technology partners to ensure a cohesive project where deliverables and outcomes achieve the business result that enables value creation.
  • Facilitate joint planning with the appropriate businesses across the U.S. in all stages of the project.
  • Develop integrated baseline project plans applying estimated models; document estimating assumptions, refine plans, and manage performance against them.
  • Determine quality standards and oversee the execution/production of management documents.
  • Identify and manage project costs and budgets, anticipating operational and some tactical risks.
  • Raise and track issues and conflicts, remove barriers, resolve minor project issues, and escalate them to the immediate manager when required.
  • Timely engagement with RBC-specific regulatory, compliance, finance, operational risk, supplier management, and other specific local or enterprise-wide business processes, as determined by financial implications of the project's costs and the specific impacts of the change being introduced by the project.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years' progressive project-related experience in financial services.
  • Experience managing projects with a high level of value (benefit/cost) and a high level of complexity and uncertainty.
  • Advanced project management knowledge, including plan development, scheduling methodology, project metrics gathering, analyzing, and reporting, risk and issue assessment and quantification methodologies, cost/benefit analysis, and alternatives identification.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., business, finance) - preferred.
  • PMP certification or equivalent - preferred.
