About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Pension Administration Specialist to join our team at WTW inc. as a Defined Benefit System Implementation Expert. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that pension administration processes and software accurately reflect client plan design features and comply with current pension legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with clients, pension administration team, and actuarial team to create system requirement documents and data mapping specifications for developers.
  • Ensure that defined benefit administration system implementations, upgrades, ongoing maintenance, etc. accurately reflect plan design.
  • Work with Retirement Testing Specialist to create test plans, using specifications to identify applicable break points, negative test cases, etc.
  • Manage testing for projects, including delegating sub tasks to testers. Provide testing status/statistics to project managers on a consistent basis.
  • Create client specific testing tools based on specifications to validate results including date calculations, factors, table lookups, average earnings calculations, etc.
  • Conduct quality assurance testing including calculation, participant communications, participant self-service and regression testing to ensure the integrity of system components.
  • Review and address issues identified during user acceptance testing including calculation, participant communications and participant self-service as needed.
  • Contribute to successful project management.
  • Participate in developing cost estimates and project plans for quality assurance testing and updates to system specifications.
  • Work with Project Manager to ensure progress of team against established goals; communicate status to Project Manager
  • Manage client expectations and raise appropriate issues to project managers.
  • Attend client meetings, including leading the specification and user acceptance testing meetings.
  • Contribute to the development of new tools, processes, and solutions to create efficiencies and meet clients' outsourcing needs.
  • Follow firm and line of business processes, protocols and quality standards in the development and deployment of solutions.
  • Act as point of contact for multi-client product rollouts for clients that are not offshore approved.
  • Assist with special projects as needed.
  • Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness when dealing with colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness when dealing with clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science or other major with significant quantitative course work and a strong academic record or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience with at least 5 years in pension administration required.
  • Strong background in defined benefit plans and functional knowledge of pension benefits administration processes and software delivery.
  • Significant knowledge of pension plan design and defined benefit rules and regulations, as well as associated technology solutions.
  • Experience with pension administration systems, including interaction of data, software, administration outputs, and processes.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with writing pension calculation specifications is required.
  • Experience with calculation testing for defined benefit admin system implementations is required.
  • Experience with participant communications testing is required.
  • Experience with participant self-service portal testing is required.
  • Ability to take ownership of significant phases, work well under tight project deadlines, including strong time management and project organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented and demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills required, both verbal and written, including ability to interpret and document plan provisions.
