Job Overview:

Aquent is seeking a Technical Infrastructure Specialist to join our innovative team. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to create a secure, stable, and scalable infrastructure based on Kubernetes within AWS.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation tools to streamline processes and eliminate bottlenecks. Your passion for innovative solutions will empower rapid development while ensuring high-quality infrastructure for our organization.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Platform Development: Design, develop, and maintain a stable and efficient platform that supports rapid development and growth within the organization.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Manage and enhance our production SaaS environment using Infrastructure as Code, ensuring the infrastructure is secure, scalable, and high-performing.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers and cross-functional teams to identify challenges, implement solutions, and drive continuous improvement across systems and workflows.
  • Infrastructure Support: Provide ongoing support for infrastructure, security, monitoring, and incident response to ensure system reliability and uptime.
  • Technical Design: Write and review technical designs, ensuring infrastructure improvements align with organizational goals and technical standards.
  • Process Improvements: Proactively identify inefficiencies, champion infrastructure improvements, and optimize workflows to eliminate bottlenecks and enhance overall development velocity.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior engineers, encouraging knowledge-sharing and promoting growth within the team.
  • Incident Management: Participate in an on-call rotation, ensuring rapid response to incidents and minimizing downtime.
  • Ongoing Learning: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously enhance the platform and engineering processes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • AWS Expertise: Strong working knowledge of AWS services, including CloudFormation, Lambda, EC2 Autoscaling, IAM, VPC management, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
  • Kubernetes Experience: Extensive experience with Kubernetes, with particular expertise in Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
  • Configuration Management: Proficiency with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
  • Continuous Integration: Solid experience in building, using, and supporting continuous integration systems, with expertise in Jenkins.
  • Scripting: Strong scripting experience (Python preferred), with an understanding of SDLC best practices.
  • Monitoring Solutions: Experience implementing monitoring solutions such as logs, metrics, synthetic transactions, and site performance monitoring, including conducting infrastructure capacity and load testing.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Proficiency in treating infrastructure as code, working in agile environments, and using version control systems like Git.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in a senior technical role, leading code reviews, advocating for technical standards, and improving SDLC processes.
  • Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Self-Reliance: Ability to work independently in a remote environment, with minimal supervision.
  • Continuous Improvement: A mindset focused on innovation, continual improvement, and self-learning.

Education and Experience:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in DevOps and/or Systems Engineering.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred but not required.
