Job Summary

Catholic Charities is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team. As an Infant and Toddler Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for infants and toddlers, promoting their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth.
  • Ensure the health and safety of children under your supervision, adhering to OEC regulations and maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement a comprehensive child development program, aligning with the center's core curriculum and CT Early Learning and Development Standards.
  • Respond to children's individual needs, providing prompt, hygienic, and consistent care, including diapering, feeding, and transitioning activities.
  • Complete weekly observations and assessments to track children's progress and development, sharing findings with parents and colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, maintaining regular updates and providing written information as needed.
  • Prepare daily reports, referral forms, and plans for children with special needs, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Participate in training, planning, and evaluation activities, staying current with early childhood research and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with NAEYC, state, local, and agency policies, regulations, and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to client rights.
Requirements
  • CDA credential plus 12 ECE credits, with enrollment in a higher education program and supervised experience working with unrelated infant/toddler-aged children.
  • AA in Early Childhood Education or Child Development, with enrollment in a higher education program and at least one semester of student teaching and/or practicum with infant/toddler or pre-school-aged children.
  • Child CPR/First Aid certification and a pre-employment health certification, including a documented, negative tuberculin test or normal chest x-ray, and a criminal background check.
