Position:
Senior MEP Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Senior MEP Coordinator will oversee the integration of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on significant construction initiatives, collaborating closely with the Project Team to guarantee the effective execution and finalization of all MEP-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

To excel in this role, the individual must competently fulfill the following responsibilities; additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Estimate and define MEP trades during the pre-construction phase.
  • Examine Contract Documents, proposing adjustments as they pertain to MEP trades and sanctioned construction plans.
  • Ensure compliance with MEP standards through review of Basis of Design (BOD).
  • Oversee the submission and approval of shop drawings and submittals.
  • Serve as the Energy Marshall, managing the isolation and energization of electrical systems in line with safety protocols.
  • Support the Project Superintendent and Field Staff in supervising MEP subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist in scheduling MEP installation tasks.
  • Review and monitor construction drawings during MEP implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent on logistical planning and temporary facility arrangements.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on the scope, materials, and equipment for MEP systems prior to installation.
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of MEP systems in conjunction with Engineers and Owners.
  • Conduct inspections of MEP installations during the construction phase.
  • Review coordination and Arc Flash studies.
  • Verify field reports and ensure documentation is submitted during project turnover.
  • Coordinate activities and material procurement with the Project Superintendent and Field Staff.
  • Communicate project progress and prepare necessary reports.
  • Represent the company in MEP discussions at weekly meetings with Owners and contractors.
  • Mentor junior project staff as needed.
  • Lead the resolution of conflicts during installations and commissioning.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Travel Requirements:
This position necessitates significant travel, approximately 70% of the time, involving a rotation of two to three weeks on-site followed by one week of remote work.

Qualifications:
To successfully perform this role, the individual must meet the following qualifications:

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's or Associate's Degree is preferred, or equivalent experience in mechanical, electrical, or fire protection/life safety engineering, or construction management. Proven experience in construction trades with increasing responsibilities and the ability to lead teams is essential.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software; experience with Procore is advantageous.

Supervisory Skills:
This role involves supervising subordinate employees, including responsibilities such as hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
