Role Overview:
We are in search of a motivated scientist who can tackle the complexities associated with cutting-edge discoveries. The ideal candidate will become part of a global and interdisciplinary team of researchers, engage in diverse scientific domains, and collaborate with the Immuno-Oncology and Virology teams to utilize crystallography for elucidating critical molecular structures, producing high-quality proteins, and aiding in the development of novel therapeutic approaches.
This scientist will play a crucial role in our research and development initiatives, demonstrating adaptability and responsiveness to evolving circumstances. From urgent research projects to essential experimental tasks, this team member will execute responsibilities with efficiency and precision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize crystallography expertise to determine crystal structures of significant targets/molecules, including protein crystallography, initial screening, crystal quality enhancement, data collection, and structural analysis.
- Collaborate across functions with Immuno-Oncology and Virology teams to produce proteins, including designing methodologies and executing the purification of therapeutically relevant proteins to provide high-quality materials for drug discovery efforts.
- Work in partnership with biologists, biophysicists, biochemists, structural biologists, and medicinal chemists to develop comprehensive strategies ensuring target viability and addressing specific project requirements.
- Establish protocols for characterizing target proteins for small molecule interactions.
Qualifications:
- Master's or PhD degree in Structural Biology or Protein Biochemistry.
- 3-5 years of professional experience as a bench scientist in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
- Proficient in Protein Purification across various expression systems using multiple techniques.
- Preference for candidates with direct experience in enzymology and crystallization methods (co-crystallization, seeding, cross-seeding, soaking, harvesting, and freezing).
- Familiarity with chemistry and computational techniques related to proteins.
- Exhibit a proactive attitude and flexibility to adapt as research and development priorities evolve.
