About the Role

Montgomery Housing Partnership (MHP) seeks a skilled professional for a Grant Manager position within the MHP Advancement Department. This role reports to the Vice President of Advancement and plays a vital part in securing funding for the organization's programs. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in grant writing, research, and management, with excellent communication and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding sources, including governmental agencies, foundations, corporations, and other institutions, that align with MHP's mission and goals.
  • Provide timely advice and information to the MHP management team on new and ongoing funding opportunities, collaborating with the team to define and implement project funding strategies.
  • Prepare and submit grant applications, including drafting and editing proposals, and coordinating the efforts of a multi-departmental team as needed.
  • Work closely with the MHP finance director and program staff to develop grant project budgets and ensure compliance with all grant requirements.
  • Track submissions and grant awards, managing a grants database with a reporting reminder system to ensure timely follow-up and compliance.
  • Prepare reports and grant payment requests as required by granting agencies, and work with finance and program staff to respond to grant compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate with local and regional funding agencies and groups, participating in meetings and discussions regarding awards and donations.
  • Develop data to demonstrate the need for programs and their impact, including in grant proposals, and prepare and manage applications for United Way and Community Investment Tax Credits.
  • Collaborate with communications and volunteer manager on required funder recognition, messaging, and donor engagement opportunities, as outlined in grant agreements.
  • Work with the advancement associate to manage the MHP fundraising database and donation acknowledgment process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of grant writing experience, with a proven track record of securing funding.
  • Familiarity with fundraising software, preferably eTapestry and Instrumentl.
  • Excellent writing, research, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Experience developing budgets and budget-to-actual reports for grants, with knowledge of accounting issues related to grants.
  • High ethical standards and the ability to handle confidential materials.
  • Proficient with MS Office software and internet proficiency to research funding opportunities.
  • Ability to multi-task on numerous projects in collaborative and independent situations, working under pressure to meet deadlines for grant opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse people.

Work Environment

MHP is a dynamic and growing nonprofit organization, and this role will be based at the MHP office in Montgomery County. The position requires a hybrid schedule, with three days per week in the office and the ability to work remotely as needed.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $68,600 (minimum) to $117,000 (maximum), with a competitive benefits package, including healthcare benefits, flexible spending accounts, 403(b) retirement matches, and generous paid time off.
