MTA is actively looking for full-time Transit Drivers. We seek candidates who prioritize exceptional customer service. Comprehensive training is provided for all other requirements, including obtaining a CDL through a structured paid training program with full-time hours and benefits.

Compensation:

New employees begin with a training wage of $22.98, progressing to $24.52/hour upon successful completion of the training period. The full salary range extends from $22.98 to $30.65 per hour. This position is classified as non-exempt under FLSA regulations.

Position Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, MTA Drivers are tasked with providing safe and reliable transportation services to the citizens of Mason County and surrounding regions. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating passenger vehicles on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and MTA policies.
  • Conducting pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and readiness.
  • Providing excellent customer service, assisting passengers, and ensuring a safe environment.
  • Collecting fares and maintaining accurate records.
  • Monitoring and reporting on vehicle conditions and passenger incidents via radio.
  • Participating in ongoing training and maintaining necessary certifications.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A valid Washington State driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain a Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with the necessary endorsements.
  • Strong communication skills and a commitment to customer service.

Physical Requirements:

Candidates must be able to:

  • Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Adapt to flexible work schedules, including nights and weekends.
