We harness data science, genomics, synthetic biology, and automation to identify potent, evolutionarily optimized small molecules and their respective targets from fungal genomes, applying medicinal chemistry as needed to refine these compounds into groundbreaking therapies.

We are enhancing our medicinal chemistry division and are seeking a Principal Scientist. In this role, you will collaborate closely with teams in natural products chemistry and biology to initiate new drug discovery endeavors. This position offers a unique opportunity to act as a project leader from the inception of projects through to investigational new drug (IND) submission. You will guide a team of medicinal chemists, collectively working to design and synthesize optimized candidates suitable for human clinical trials. Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing innovative drug candidates and synthetic pathways
  • Overseeing chemistry teams, both internally and externally
  • Leading a skilled medicinal chemistry team with direct reports
  • Acting as a project lead for drug discovery initiatives
  • Collaborating across functions to progress Hexagon Bio's pipeline

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry with over 7 years of experience in an industrial medicinal chemistry environment
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage projects
  • Demonstrated success in advancing drug discovery projects
  • Willingness to work in a laboratory setting
