The TX-STAR Speech Language Services team is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to provide instructional support to students identified as deaf or hard-of-hearing (AI) in order to ensure a quality educational program that is based on federal and state standards as well as sound instructional practices.
Responsibilities- Provide instructional support to students with hearing impairments in a variety of educational settings.
- Collaborate with campus teachers to ensure that AI students are able to participate in classroom activities with necessary accommodations.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of students with hearing impairments.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in the field of special education and hearing impairments.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a collaborative and supportive learning environment.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college/university.
- Experience working with students with hearing impairments, preferably in a special education setting.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate as a teacher of the deaf/hard-of-hearing or teacher of students with auditory impairments.
- Knowledge of sign language and the ability to instruct students to speak/understand sign language.
- Knowledge of various types of hearing loss, communication needs, and adaptive/assistive devices and equipment used by students with auditory impairments.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction at all grade levels.
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with campus teachers and other educational professionals.
