Position Title: CAT Scan Technologist

Department: Radiology/Imaging Services

Location: Phoenix Children's Hospital

Position Summary

This role is responsible for executing diagnostic computerized tomography scanning procedures to deliver consistently high-quality imaging results in alignment with all relevant standards, regulations, and licensing requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operates under the supervision of the Radiology Manager and does not oversee other staff.
  2. Facilitates the training of imaging students as required and provides educational sessions on CT safety to hospital personnel.
  3. Maintains professional and technical expertise by actively seeking knowledge and staying updated on current literature, practices, and advancements in diagnostic imaging.
  4. Engages in the assessment and/or creation of new procedures and protocols for imaging sequences, contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
  5. Conducts diagnostic computerized tomography scans, determining the appropriate techniques and positioning to achieve optimal imaging results in accordance with established standards.
  6. Handles finalization tasks, including limited coding using the radiology information system (RIS) to ensure timely and accurate patient data and billing. Archives records per Radiologist specifications.
  7. Performs routine equipment calibration and maintenance, troubleshooting any malfunctions to guarantee safe and effective operations. Reports service needs and preventive maintenance requirements as necessary.
  8. Delivers CT safety information and educational sessions to patients and their families to ensure a comprehensive understanding of procedural protocols.
  9. Completes additional job-related tasks as assigned.
