This role is dedicated to assisting low-income youth and young adults facing challenges such as foster care, homelessness, educational disconnection, and juvenile justice involvement. The focus is on empowering individuals to cultivate the skills necessary for independent living. Specialized support is provided in various domains, including education, job readiness, housing, and more. The position emphasizes building strong community partnerships and delivering comprehensive information and referral services.

As part of the Social Impact Center, a division of this non-profit organization, the mission is to foster safe, successful, and fulfilling lives for young people. Annually, the organization serves thousands of children, youth, young adults, and families throughout the region. Programs are designed to mitigate risk factors, facilitate navigation through complex systems, ensure stability and wellness, and enhance competencies and social capital. Services offered encompass housing assistance, behavioral health support, foster care licensing, violence prevention, educational resources, and employment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored services in education, employment, housing, and related areas to help youth and young adults achieve their aspirations.
  • Create individualized, strengths-based service plans.
  • Ensure compliance with contract and grant requirements to meet program outcome goals.
  • Conduct research on best practices and maintain a specialized resource library.
  • Document participant interactions professionally and clearly in databases.
  • Facilitate life skills and job readiness training both individually and in group settings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and community partners to organize and implement activities.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with funding liaisons, service providers, businesses, and educational institutions.
  • Support participants in achieving success in housing, connections to supportive adults, education, employment, health, and life skills.
  • May oversee volunteers, interns, or national service members.
  • Engage in the annual fundraising campaign.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field, or equivalent experience; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents or young adults in relevant sectors (employment, foster care, housing, education, juvenile justice, mental health, etc.).
  • Ability to teach independence skills and design supportive activities.
  • Strong skills in engagement and relationship-building with youth.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Capability to transport oneself and clients safely; proof of vehicle insurance is required or the ability to travel to areas lacking public transportation.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (to be obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • Current training in HIV bloodborne pathogens (to be obtained within 30 days of employment).
  • Preferred knowledge of diverse populations; multilingual skills are advantageous.
