Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Student Success Coach to join our team at the Community College of Allegheny County. As a Student Success Coach, you will play a critical role in providing essential learning support services to students who require additional support. Your primary responsibility will be to serve as an individual mentor to students, monitoring their progress and providing the encouragement and support necessary to enable them to complete their course of study at CCAC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students in developing an educational plan and strategies to improve student success.
  • Monitor student progress by utilizing available technology and tracking systems.
  • Design and coordinate group learning activities to promote student success.
  • Meet individually and in small groups with students as needed.
  • Work with Student Development Services Staff to meet the social and human service needs of students.
  • Work with Financial Aid Office to monitor student aid.
  • Participate in student orientation.
  • Provide individual and/or group coaching on issues related to academic success.
  • Refer students to internal and outside programs for additional support services or for crisis intervention counseling and follow-up as needed.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of early intervention and retention programs.
  • Work with the various Student Development Services Offices to identify and recommend appropriate services designed to address student needs.
  • Serve on college committees as needed.
  • Compile information on program services, activities, and students. Maintain accurate, organized, completed, and detailed records and develop and maintain reports as required or assigned.
  • Participate in student recruitment activities.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of two years of experience in human services serving diverse populations or economically or educationally disadvantaged populations. You must also have strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability and willingness to work collaboratively, attention to detail, and the ability to follow through with assisting the student. A commitment to the students' success and student-centered education is essential. Community College experience is preferred. Successful candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills as well as a valid Pennsylvania driver's license and reliable transportation. This position will require occasional flexibility and working some evenings and Saturdays.

Clearances

Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check. The College has provided instructions on how to obtain these clearances and are available.
