Position Overview:


Tufts University School of Dental Medicine is seeking a Laboratory Research Associate to support an active basic science laboratory engaged in translational research related to tissue engineering and regeneration, as well as the correlation of dental diseases with systemic conditions such as diabetes, osteoarthritis, Alzheimer's disease, and cancer.

This laboratory employs various fundamental techniques in cell and molecular biology, including signal transduction pathways, microRNA, long noncoding RNA, transgenic models, and gene knockout methodologies. The Chen Lab also utilizes a range of rodent models where stem cells, growth factors, and advanced matrix scaffolds are implemented.


Key Responsibilities:


Under the direct guidance of the Principal Investigator, the Laboratory Research Associate will carry out a series of routine experiments in accordance with established protocols. Responsibilities may include conducting assays, managing tissue cultures, performing electrophoresis, and utilizing other laboratory techniques.

The role also involves documenting experimental results, analyzing data with basic statistical methods, maintaining laboratory equipment and supplies, and overseeing animal colonies.

Additionally, the Laboratory Research Associate will ensure the smooth operation of the lab by ordering necessary supplies, maintaining equipment, and upholding cleanliness standards in the laboratory environment while adhering to safety protocols.

Administrative support within the lab may also be required, along with other duties as assigned.



Qualifications:

Essential Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences with up to one year of laboratory experience.

Desirable Skills:
Familiarity with fundamental laboratory techniques and procedures; experience with murine models is advantageous.

This position demands excellent organizational and time management abilities, along with the capacity to work independently.


Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for drafting animal protocols, assisting students and research fellows, and preparing scientific papers and grant submissions.
