Description: Support the Foreman and skilled tradespeople in executing their designated tasks under close guidance. This role typically serves as an entry-level opportunity, providing a pathway to develop specialized skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Excavate, distribute, and level soil, sand, and gravel utilizing hand tools such as picks, shovels, or rakes.
- Transport, lift, and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, materials, and the worksite.
- Combine, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using manual tools.
- Assemble, wrap, and secure sections of piping.
- Carry out various routine manual tasks.
- Engage in machine operations including soil compaction, jackhammering, and assisting with pipe fusion.
Qualifications:
- Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Report any unsafe practices to the supervisor or Human Resources.
- Contribute to team efforts aimed at achieving departmental and organizational objectives.
- Exhibit leadership qualities by setting an example and sharing knowledge and skills with peers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education: Less than a High School Diploma.
Experience: Preferred candidates will have three or more years of relevant construction experience.
Physical Activity Level: This position involves heavy physical activity, requiring strenuous effort throughout the workday.
Manual Dexterity: Sufficient manual dexterity to handle items and perform tasks with the hands. Ability to discern the characteristics of objects and materials.
Working Conditions: Exposure to outdoor elements and varying weather conditions.
Work Environment: Regular exposure to outdoor weather, including extreme temperatures and wet conditions. Frequent encounters with moving mechanical parts and elevated areas. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill essential job functions.
